The determination of what is or is not a reasonable use of force can be elusive, and law enforcement leaders, trainers, and officers must change the traditional paradigm. This requires the analysis to include the concept of legitimacy – regardless of the outcome of a case, is this what we want our officers to be doing? Did the officers unnecessarily place themselves and those involved at risk?
In part three of our use of force case law series, attorney and Chief (Ret.) Mike Ranalli will build upon the foundations built in the prior webinars.
